Introduction

If a LightSort rack cannot connect to the network when pulling from the LSConfig file, the message "Cannot Connect To Network" will be displayed on the controller. If a LightSort rack cannot connect to the network while attempting to sync files, the message "Lost Network Connection" will be displayed on the controller. The LightSort rack will then enter cache mode, saving all existing files as they are. Cache mode serves as a safety net, allowing processing to continue on the disconnected rack, but not allowing any changes to be made.


If a LightSort rack cannot connect to the network when pulling from the LSconfig file, the message "Cannot Connect To Network" will be displayed on the controller.

There are two potential sources of connection problems: the network cable and the config file. If the fault lies with the network cable, these steps
should reveal the problem.


1. Check that the network cable is connected at both ends, one end in the upper left hand corner of the controller and the other in a router.

2. Check both ends of the cable by unplugging them and then plugging them back in.

3. Check the length of the cable for wear and
tear. Replace the network cable if possible, as
not all damage will be visible.


If the cable appears to be functioning properly, the next step is to check the LSConfig file. There are several factors that effect network connectivity in the config file, the "UsingNetwork", "Subnet Mask", "Default Gateway", and "Server IP Address" values.


1. Check that "Using Network" is set to "True" (the capitalization is important).

2. Check that the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and Server IP Address are filled out with the correct values. If you don't know the correct values for those fields, look them up in the Network and Sharing Center on the EII Site Server.

3. If the LSConfig file has the wrong values, update it and load the new version to the controller with a USB.

Note: the LSConfig file can only be loaded to a rack from a USB drive, the file cannot be updated from the EII Site Server.
