Changes have been made to the recent version of the Safety 100 board that can cause confusion when installing the updated board on an EZ-Parcels machine.  The procedure that must be followed is detailed below.

Removal of the Obsolete Safety 100 Board

Turn off the Safety

  • This is found behind the tower
Unplug power from the Control Board
Disconnect all cables from the Safety 100 board

Remove the board from the machine

Installation of the New Safety 100 Board

Place the new board in the location from which the old board was removed
Cables must be reconnected in their corresponding locations, as seen in the figures in Installation of the Safety 100 Board
  • The procedure will differ depending on the location of the board
  • Names of the cables that must be connected can be found in the table to the right
    • The items in the table will correspond with the numbers seen in the figures in section Installation of the Safety 100 Board

Once the board has been remounted onto the Transport, cables must be reconnected
  • If the board is being installed in the last stacker of the transport, follow the steps outlined in section Installation of the Safety 100 Board in the Final Stacker to reconnect the cables

Old

Connect the cables that are indicated with numbers 1-6 in the new board
  • These cables will transfer to the new board in the same location to which they were connected on the previous version of the board

New

One end of the Safety Next able will be plugged into the Safety Next slot on the board (Number 7), while the other end will be plugged into the Safety Previous slot of the board in the next stacker section (Number 6)
The splice, adapter board, and adapter header will be disconnected and removed from the machine
  • The assembly will be unplugged from IN13 on the Control Board
  • The two outer cables on the top of the adapter board (J1, J3) will be unplugged and inserted into the ECR OUT slots indicated by numbers 8 and 9 on the New board shown above
  • After being removed, the adapter may be disposed

Installation of the New Safety 100 Board in the Final Stacker

When the Safety 100 board is replaced in the final stacker of the transport, the procedure that must be followed when connecting the cables will differ in some areas from the procedure that was outlined in Installation of the Safety 100 Board
  • Cables indicated by numbers 1-5 will be inserted into the same locations shown in section Installation of the Safety 100 Board
  • The cable that was plugged into the Safety Next slot in the previous stacker (Number 7) will be carried into the last stacker and plugged into the Safety Previous slot (Number 6)
  • The loopback that was present in the Safety Next slot in the board that is being replaced (Number 10) will be removed from the old board and placed into the corresponding location labeled Safety Next on the new board (Number 10)
