Implementing a New Rate Set

Modified on Mon, Jan 20, 2020 at 5:43 PM

Each time new rates are released by USPS, it is imperative that each machine receive the necessary system updates.  These updates include the installation of new software, as well as setting changes.  The new rate set will be implemented in three steps:

  1.  The software update will take place in the form of a "patch".
    • Each machine will be patched using one of three methods:
      • Automatic updates performed overnight one week before the new rate set goes into effect
      • Manual updates performed by an EII Support Technician
      • Manually downloads and updates performed by local personnel
        • To register for an account through which software updates can be obtained, follow the instructions outlined in this article.
    • All EII programs must be closed when the update is performed.
      • Champ
      • Console
      • Helm
  2.  The software must be told to use the new rates.
    • THE NEW RATES MAY NOT BE USED UNLESS STARTING A JOB THAT WILL BE FINALIZED AFTER THE NEW RATES HAVE TAKEN EFFECT
    • Once finalization for all mail for the current rate set is complete, navigate to the Site Profile Editor in the EII Console.
      • Within the Rates section of the Site Profile Editor, found on the left side of the page, select the rate set that the software will begin using
      • In the bottom right corner of the page, select Save Changes
        • A new job may now be started.
  3.  All billing profiles must be updated with the new rates.
    • All rates being used to bill customers will be updated using the Billing Guide that is supplied before each rate set update.
