If the print on labels processing on an EII Applicator keeps shifting upward, it is possible that the Take-Up Arm or Sensor need to be adjusted. The following videos show the process for making these adjustments:

On some EII Applicators, the take-up reel mount shaft is mounted incorrectly onto the motor shaft. In these instances, the head of the mounting bolt on the take-up arm will rub against the inner plastic take-up disc and create a wear pattern similar to that shown below:
In these cases in which the head of the bolt is rubbing against the take-up disc, the following procedure must be followed to correct the alignment of the take-up reel mount shaft and prevent further damage:
- Remove the outer plastic take-up disc from the take-up reel mount shaft and set it aside
- Remove the roll of empty label backing
- loosen the two set screws in the metal support hub using a 5/32 allen wrench and remove the hub from the take-up reel mount shaft
- Using the same wrench, loosen the two set screws on the inner plastic take-up disc hub and pull the disc away from the shoulder of the take-up reel mount shaft
- The disc should only be moved enough to allow the set screw in the take-up reel mount shaft to be loosened
- It is not necessary to completely remove the disc from the shaft
- Loosen the set screw on the take-up reel mount shaft using a 3/32 allen wrench
- Push the inner plastic take-up disc against the shoulder of the shaft
- Pull the shaft away from the black metal main plate merely enough to allow the disc to clear the head of the mounting bolt that has been rubbing the inner plastic take-up disc
- A good indicator for the distance that should exist between the inner plastic take-up disc and the head of the mounting bolt is the thickness of a business card or 4 sheets of paper
- If you pull too far, it is possible to pull the take-up reel mount shaft far enough that it either clears the dowel that aligns it to the motor shaft, the dowel falls out, or the take-up shaft is completely removed from the motor shaft
- In the event that any of these instances occur, be attentive when replacing the take-up reel mount shaft that the dowel aligns the keyways on the take-up reel mount shaft and the motor shaft
- It is also essential to ensure that the dowel is pushed completely into the keyway of the take-up reel mount shaft
- When the shaft is situated properly, gently pull the take-up disc away from the shoulder so that the 3/32 set screw is again accessible and tighten the set screw in the take-up shaft
- At this time, check the take-up arm
- After pushing it downward and letting go, it should ease back into position quickly
- At this point, the inner plastic take-up disc can be pushed back onto the shaft until it is completely against the shoulder of the take-up shaft
- Tighten the set screws of the inner plastic take-up disc hub
- Place the metal support hub back on the take-up shaft until the outer edge of the support hub is 3 inches from the inner plastic disc
- Tighten the set screws of the metal support hub
- Replace the roll of empty label backing and the outer plastic take-up disc
