Some EZ-Flats machine functionality, such as the processing of PC Postage pieces, require altered processing methods because labels taller than 2.375" must be utilized.  There are two possible configurations to the machine in these instances.  The steps that must be taken will be determined by the manner in which the operator(s) will be applying the labels.

In the event that one operator will be performing both actions of applying labels and processing the pieces, the following criteria must be met:

  1.  It is imperative that a shelf is present behind the first transport section in the back of the machine (between the scale stand and the applicator stand)
  2.  Place a Zebra printer on this shelf
  3.  Connect the cables appropriately
    • Power cable must be plugged in
    • USB cable must be connected to the workstation PC
  4.   Create a job profile specifically for mailings that will be using the taller label stock
    • Remove the Labeler component
    • Add a Labeler 2 component
      • This component will be changed from Weber 2600 to Zebra LP2844
      • The Label Height field will need to reflect the actual height of the labels (likely 1.5 or 2.375)
      • The serial number of the Zebra printer will be entered into the Labeler 2 section for the PC Postage job profile
  5.  While operating the machine, the operator will process pieces in the following manner:
    • Place a piece on the scale and wait for the lamp to activate, signaling that reading of the piece is complete
    • A label will print from the Zebra and be applied to the piece
    • The piece will be removed from the scale and placed on the transport
    • The piece will sort into the appropriate bin

If one operator will be processing pieces normally while a second operator applies labels to the pieces, the following steps must be taken:

  1.  Place a table at the end of the last stacker
  2.  Place a Zebra printer on the table
  3.  Connect the cables appropriately
    • Power cable must be plugged in
    • USB cable must be connected to the workstation PC
  4.  Create a sort profile specifically for mailings that will be using the taller label stock
    • Reconfigure the sortation of all qualifications to require all pieces to sort off the end of the machine by assigning a bin number that is higher than the number of bins present on the stackers
      • For example, if your machine has 2 stackers (8 total bins), the bin location assigned to all qualifications should be 9+
    • Assign the sort profile being used with this job profile to the new sort profile that was created in step 4
  6. While operating the machine, the operators will process pieces in the following manner:
    • The first operator will place the piece on scale and wait for the lamp to activate, signaling that the reading of the piece is complete
    • The mail piece will be removed from the scale and placed on the transport
    • The mail piece will travel through the transport and stacker sections, then be deposited onto the table
    • A secondary operator will apply the label to the piece
    • The mail piece will be sorted manually by additional personnel or at a later time
